How did you get into boxing and how did you find yourself at 3rd Street?

β€œA few years ago I found myself in San Francisco and saw 3rd Street Gym a block away from work. I had boxed intermittently previously, but never stuck with it. The location of the gym got me in the door, the quality of the people and instruction kept me coming back.”

What's the best part about boxing? Why do you train?

β€œI train to me more capable, both in terms of fitness and skillset. Boxing provides a physical workout, but also has a significant mental component. It prevents things from getting boring, which is the crux of sticking with any kind of fitness regime.”

Any words of advice or encouragement for newbies?

β€œThe most challenging part for me is showing up. If you're new maybe it is intimidating. If you're experienced maybe it just means waking up earlier. But I've never regretted it when I have walked in the door, only when I haven't. Just show up.”
