Before My Workout

Do I need to sign a waiver?

Yes. If you create your account on our app or website, the waiver is part of the process. If you walk in or are visiting through ClassPass, please sign one at the front desk.

How do I wrap my hands?

If time allows, front desk staff will be happy to show you how to do it your first time. After that, please refer back to this video to practice on your own.

Are hand wraps required?

You must wrap your hands if you take any boxing class. Please arrive before class with enough time to put your wraps on.

Do I need to sign up for class in advance?

Yes. Not only does it secure your spot for our most popular classes, it also helps the teacher tailor their class for the group! It also makes check-in smooth and fast when you arrive.

I'm on the waitlist for class. When will I know if I got in?

If you're on a waitlist and a spot opens up, you will receive an email and/or text message confirming that you’ve been added to the roster. If you no longer plan on attending, please remove yourself from the roster, otherwise you will be subject to the no-show fee ($15). Waitlists close 4 hours before the start of class. If you have not received the confirmation email and/or text message by then, unfortunately you will not be able to attend that class.

What is your cancellation / no-show policy?

Missing your class, or late-canceling (less than 4 hours for Class, Academy, or Youth classes, or less than 24 hours for Personal Training appointments) will incur a $15 late-cancel / no-show fee, and the session will be deducted from your account/pack.

I'm trying to book a class but it's saying I don't have the 'pre-requisite'. What does this mean?

All clients are required to take Beginner Boxing 1 and 2 before any other boxing classes. This ensures the best experience for you and other clients.

I've boxed before. Do I still need to take the Beginner Boxing classes?

All new folks at 3rd Street must take both “Beginner Boxing 1” and “Beginner Boxing 2” before any other classes. These classes introduce you to our punch system, will help prevent injuries, and ensure the best possible experience for you and others, so they are required! You can only skip these classes if you plan to jump right into Bootcamp or Personal Training. If that’s you, follow those links to book.

During My Workout

Where/how do I check in?

For classes and Bootcamp, use the sign-in iPad at the front desk. Find your name on the roster and check yourself in. If you didn't sign up in advance, you can add yourself if there is room. If you are just coming in to work out, or you have a PT appointment, give the front desk your name and we will sign you in.

Where can I leave my stuff during class?

We have storage in the men and women's changing rooms where folks leave their stuff during their workout. This is a secure, friendly place :)

Can I bring my baby/child?

We must respectfully inform our members that small children and babies are not permitted at the gym during group classes for the following reasons:

Risk of Injury: Gyms contain equipment and heavy machinery that can pose a significant risk to young children. Even with close supervision, there is a heightened danger of injury in areas where weights, machines, and other gym equipment are in use. This included babies in strollers. There is no safe place to put a stroller during a group class where there is risk of clients bumping or knocking it over.

Disruptions to the Gym Environment: In order to maintain a safe and focused workout space for all our members, it is essential that the environment remains calm and free from distractions. Babies and small children may unintentionally create noise or disruptions that affect other members’ ability to exercise.

No Childcare Services Provided: We do not offer childcare services. As such, we cannot accommodate children in the gym while you are working out. We recommend utilizing nearby childcare options or scheduling your workout during times when a trusted caregiver can look after your child.

Liability and Insurance Considerations: The safety of our members is our top priority. To minimize the risk of injury and ensure a safe environment for everyone, we must consider potential liability risks should an accident occur involving children.

If the parent is visiting the gym for a personal training session during a quiet hour, we can potentially make exceptions to this rule on a case-to-case basis. Please email marisa@3rdstreetboxing.com

Can I store my bike/scooter/hoverboard etc. inside during class?

No, please lock your ride on the racks outside on the sidewalk.

What equipment do I need?

Depends on the class. Double check the equipment requirements for the class you are taking. All equipment can be rented or purchased at the front desk.

Can I borrow gloves and wraps?

You can buy or rent all the gear you need at the front desk. However, we do not loan out gear for free.

What should I wear?

Regular workout clothes are fine. Boxing shoes (wrestling shoes work) are required for the vinyl matt class area. No sneakers or outdoor shoes allowed on matts.

What's the class limit / average class size?

Class limits range between 15 and 28 depending on the class. You can view open and total spots for each class on [the schedule][3]. [3]: /class-schedule

I have an injury. Can I still do class?

Most likely, yes. Our trainers are great at accommodating clients with injuries and providing alternative exercises. Just let them know before class.

I'm just looking to use the gym / weights / treadmills / bags on my own. Can I do that?

Yes! You can drop-in to the facility without taking a class. We have a bunch of equipment just for you. Check out a [full list ][4]here. [4]: /club

After My Workout

What are the punch numbers at 3rd Street?

For right-handers they are as follows (reverse right and left if you're southpaw)

  • 1 = jab
  • 2 = right cross
  • 3 = left hook to the head
  • 4 = left hook to the body
  • 5 = right hook to the body
  • 6 = left uppercut
  • 7 = right uppercut
  • 8 = right hook to the head

I still feel a little insecure with my punches. Who can help me?

Any of our trainers would love to help you! Just pull them aside after class, or when they aren't busy teaching.

What should I take after Beginner Boxing 1 and 2?

Depends on what your goal is.

  • Ready to dive headfirst into everything we have to offer? Sign up for our famous Bootcamp!
  • If you want to reinforce your boxing technique while getting a sweat on, try Old School Boxing.
  • Tough Love is our hardest and most popular class, combining boxing and strength and conditioning exercises. We recommend waiting to take this until you feel comfortable with basic stance and technique.
  • If your goal is to spar and compete, you'll feel most at home in our Academy program, which is technique-focused smaller group training. You will also have the opportunity to spar in the ring.
  • If you're just starting out with boxing, you're probably not yet ready for Intro To Sparring, but come back when you want to put on headgear and practice the real deal. It's a lot of fun!
  • Looking for kickass strength & conditioning? Check out Circuit & Strength.
  • Have a specific goal or just want extra coaching? Book a 1-on-1 Personal Training session.

Do I need to take the Beginner Boxing classes more than once?

While most folks are ready to jump into other classes after taking these classes once, you're welcome to take it again if you'd like to reinforce learning the stance and punch numbering! Please note we only offer your first Beginner class for free.

Do you sell food or drinks?

We sell bottled water and VitaminWater Zero, at the front desk. No food here, but we can direct you to some great spots nearby!

Services & Pricing

What are your rates?

Depends on which service or level of membership you are looking for. See pricing for [memberships][1], [Personal Training][2], and [Bootcamp][3]. [3]: /bootcamp [2]: /personal-training [1]: /memberships

I'm interested in doing Bootcamp, but might have to miss certain days for work/travel. Can I prorate?

We do not offer prorated Bootcamp enrollments, even if you must miss days due to travel, work, etc. The spirit of Bootcamp is that you are committing to the entiriety of the program!

I missed a Bootcamp session. Can I come back at night and do a class instead?

Bootcamp is its own program, and attending those sessions are not interchangeable with a membership or attending classes. If you are already a Class or Academy member, of course you are still welcome to do classes.

What's the benefit of becoming a member?

Our memberships are "unlimited" which means you can use our facilities and/or take as many classes as you'd like during the month. Members also get reduced prices for Bootcamp and Personal Training.

Can I get an extension for my class package?

Within reason, this is usually not a problem. Just send us an email at [customerservice@3rdstreetboxing.com][4] and let us know your situation. [4]:mailto:customerservice@3rdstreetboxing.com

Can my friend / family member / whoever use one of my classes from my package?

Sorry, class packs are non-transferrable. However, if you refer them via our rewards program, they can get a free class!

Are your memberships month-to-month or contract-based?

By default, most clients opt for our month-to-month memberships. We do offer longer-term contracts for reduced monthly dues (comes with stipulations). See [here][7] for more info. [7]: /memberships

My Account

Can I pause/suspend/put my membership on hold?

Month-to-month memberships cannot be suspended. Most of our members have a month-to-month membership, so unless you have specifically asked to set up a 6- or 12-month contract, this is probably you. If you wish to stop your autopay, you must follow the process to cancel your membership. Please note that all cancellations require advance 30-days notice from your next billing date.

If you are on a 6 or 12-month contract, we can suspend your membership for a fee of $50 per month (or $30 with documented injury or medical reason), for a maximum of 3 months. The end date of your contract will be extended by the number of months you pause. If you want to put your contract on hold, please fill out this form.

How do I cancel my membership?

Go to our Membership page, scroll down to Cancellations and complete the form. Please note that all cancellations require advance 30-days notice from your next billing date.

Where can I find more info on your membership policies?

Our policies are set in place to safeguard the firm for a variety of reasons.

1.) As a small privately held company recovering from immense financial impact from the pandemic, the common 30-day notice policy is in place so that the company can accurately forecast future profit and loss rates in terms of accounting and planning. It enables our management to precisely track sales and forecast budgets for the following month, and it also informs us about the number of classes we can run and the number of trainers we can compensate based on our membership sales.

2.) In terms of promos: By offering such a cheap first-month beginner promo rate ($136 off the regular fee), the gym hopes to gradually reclaim the painfully significant percentage of the gym community lost during Covid-19. It is not acceptable for clients to receive a discounted month without intending to be a part of the gym community in the months to come, especially when we have a limited capacity on how many new clients we can accept per month. Clients who sign up for our offered promo agree to be put on an autopay plan for a minimum of two months and are expected to adhere to our usual cancellation policy if they desire to cancel at any time.

3.) Depending on where they are in their payment cycle, clients may due for gym time used. Depending on which membership or contract a client has got, it is handled on a case-by-case basis. The policy ensures that all gym fees are paid in full by the time a client is terminated.

We ask that our clients respect our business by being aware of our policy and making appropriate plans. Travel is not a valid reason for management to bypass the policy, it is the client's responsibility to be aware of contract policies and plan accordingly.

What is your refund policy?

All membership fees, including monthly, annual, and prepaid plans, are non-refundable once processed. Refunds are not issued for unused time, missed sessions, or non-usage of the facility.

Personal training sessions, Bootcamps and class packages are non-refundable and are non-transferrable.

All memberships automatically renew unless canceled at least 30 days before the next billing cycle. If a member disputes a charge with their bank instead of contacting us first, we may charge a $25 chargeback fee to cover administrative costs.

If you feel as though you have been wrongfully charged for any services or products, you have 60 days to dispute charges or request a refund.

How do I see my purchase history, schedule, or update my card info?

The easiest way is to download our mobile app, but you can also do so by clicking "My Account" in the footer of our website.

How do I redeem rewards points?

Redeem your rewards via the "Perkville" tab in our app. We can also redeem them for you at the front desk.
