How did you get into boxing and how did you find yourself at 3rd Street?

“I'm runner and had been doing a bootcamp which has been great for my leg strength; but I wanted to add an upper body workout. I also wanted something fun & different - out of my comfort zone. Boxing sounded fun - especially the thought of punching the bag! I found 3rd Street on yelp - the great reviews about the classes, people & community brought me in!”

What's the best part about boxing? Why do you train?

“It's a great mental workout, which surprised me! Got to stay focused, which let's you forget about work & stuff for an hour. I like that every class is different - the bag work is fun and the partner work challenges you. And as I got better I also realized I'd gotten stronger; which is great motivation to continue!”

How did you get into boxing and how did you find yourself at 3rd Street?

“Serendipity! I was talking with a coworker about how I missed training and playing sports and he recommended I try boxing. When I got home that evening a friend asked if I wanted to go to the free beginner class at 3rd st with her. I have been hooked ever since.”

What's the best part about boxing? Why do you train?

“Boxing requires you to be present. You can’t be thinking about all the other stuff or you might get knocked in the head. You need to be aware of your body and your partner. Also the workouts have helped me to hit my overall fitness goals. I have dropped about 30lbs since coming here.”

“I definitely felt like I had no idea what I was doing when I first started. The instructors and the other members are amazing at helping you learn and not judging as you figure it out.”

"It all seems intimidating at first, but if you commit to showing up, focus on your form and give it your all during your workouts, it will be worth it. Also, the trainers are rockstars so be sure to ask for help if you need it!”
