How did you get into boxing and how did you find yourself at 3rd Street?

β€œAs a 12-year-old, I stumbled upon Friday Night Fights on ESPN. I became mesmerized by the action, the skill, the stories, and most importantly, the heart of the fighters. Years later, I finally started training when I graduated college and moved to Philly. Since then, training has been a core part of my identity. When I moved to SF, I sought out a gym to join, so I signed up for a boot camp at 3rd Street Gym. Immediately, I knew this was the right gym for me. It's been four years and counting...”

What's the best part about boxing? Why do you train?

β€œYou discover who you are when you push yourself to your limits. The best part about boxing is that you're always rediscovering your limits. The first time I sparred, I learned so much about my will to push forward, no matter how exhausted my legs were. Though I'm (mostly) done with sparring, I still love training to stay in shape and to let out a bit of aggression.”

Any words of advice or encouragement for newbies?

β€œJust. Say. Yes. Boxing is one of the best full body workouts that you can have. Plus, you won't find a boxing gym in SF with a better set of trainers and a more welcoming community. There are classes for all levels and, unlike other gyms that I've attended, you'll learn proper technique at 3rd Street Gym.”
