Sameer

Sameer keeps coming back because boxing is tough. And tough is what #3rdstreettribe is all about! 👊⚡️

How did you get into boxing and how did you find yourself at 3rd Street?

“I first came to 3rd Street about a year ago during a search for healthy ways to de-stress. I started out with the new year’s bootcamp and was hooked.”

What's the best part about boxing? Why do you train?

“The best part about boxing is that it isn’t easy. It’s demanding, exhausting, and requires a high degree of physical and mental toughness. But that’s exactly why I keep coming back. Getting through a challenging boxing workout is always the most difficult - and rewarding - thing I’ll do that day.”

Any words of advice or encouragement for newbies?

"The hardest part is showing up. As long as you can get yourself to the gym, you’ll see improvement quickly and build confidence in your abilities."

How did you get into boxing and how did you find yourself at 3rd Street?

“I first tried kicking boxing in university looking for a way to stay in shape, and almost immediately became addicted. It’s one of the only workouts I’ve stuck with for the past few years. When I moved to San Francisco I tried a ton of boxing gyms and 3rd Street was by far my favorite.”

What's the best part about boxing? Why do you train?

“For me, health and fitness are a priority and boxing is a great full body workout. It’s intense and fast paced which is great for cardio but strength and conditioning are also a huge part of it. It’s also nice to know how to actually through a punch.”

Any words of advice or encouragement for newbies?

“Bring a friend with you your first few times so you can do the partner work with them until you are comfortable with the gym. Everyone is really welcoming but it can be intimidating at first.”

Ahleah

Ahleah, like a few other badass females at 3rd Street, started boxing to get in shape for a wedding! 👰🏻 But that was enough to get her hooked. Now she’s #3rdstreettribe.

How did you get into boxing and how did you find yourself at 3rd Street?

“I had never been athletic. Getting in shape for my wedding was an ordeal. However, the only enjoyable part to the circuit classes was the 3 minute heavy bag round. When I relocated to San Francisco I happened to move in near the Third Street Boxing Gym. After the beginners course I was hooked.”

What's the best part about boxing? Why do you train?

“Boxing provides me with the feeling that I am in charge, and am capable of being the strong woman I hope to be. I train, to keep myself in shape, both body and mind.”

Any words of advice or encouragement for newbies?

“Practice, and don't give up. We have all been there and are willing to help you grow and succeed.”
